We were engaged under an ECI Design & Construct agreement to build a new hub for the Altona North community comprising the Hellenic Centre and an adjoined childcare facility. The new Hellenic Centre built for the Greek Orthodox community boasts a large function hall set to hold celebrations for up to 500 people. The function hall is introduced by a large foyer and serviced by a full commercial kitchen. The second storey of the Hellenic Centre includes private rooms for the function hall, a smaller secondary function space, and a number of classrooms for the Greek Orthodox Community Language School.
Adjoined to the Hellenic Centre but not accessible directly, we built a brand new 160-place childcare centre. The facility includes group care rooms, a large communal lunch area, commercial kitchen and servery, bathroom amenities, reception, and staff rooms. The centre also features two large outdoor play areas with extensive landscaping.
We worked with the client from the beginning of this project, developing the architectural design from an initial concept including appointing consultants and managing planning and authority approvals. A significant value management process was required to achieve our client’s budget and the design process was fast-tracked to allow commencement as soon as possible.
The project was successfully completed well ahead of the program and handed over to an incredibly high standard.
