PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- Restrictive Site Access
- Existing Structure Works
- 2015 Victoria Architecture Awards: Commendation (Heritage Category)
Works at the Seabrook House included heritage project maintaining, fitout, the construction of offices, and an open plan workspace. The works completed feature timber stairs and glazed lift to open the void to general light through all working spaces.
Detailed interfaces with the existing building structure included exposing and finishing up existing bluestone walls and stripping lead paint to expose timber beams. By exposing the existing and significant structure, the unique character of the heritage building was highlighted.
This project carefully balances the community’s interests in preserving the building’s heritage-listed interior whilst at the same time providing a vibrant workplace that achieves the levels of comfort and serviceability now expected in commercial environments.
