The project scope consisted of the complete redevelopment of The Rechabite Hall into a multi-purpose performance, entertainment, and hospitality venue whilst maintaining the authenticity and heritage character of one of Perth’s grand treasures. The transformation spanned across four levels from the basement to the new rooftop bar.
Key scope items included underpinning and strengthening works to the existing walls, structural earthquake bracing, a rooftop deck construction, internal fit-out works, and restoration works to the internal and external building fabric.
The heritage significance of the building, the deteriorated nature of the fabric, the location, and the design presented challenges that required constant problem-solving throughout construction.
“I have nothing but great things to say about the McCorkell team and their work on The Rechabite. The dedication and passion shown to the project was palpable at every step of the way and really delivered results. Being located right in the thick of a pumping entertainment precinct presented so many difficulties and complexities throughout the build. However, McCorkell took the perfect storm of these elements and steered a course through the at times, very rocky seas to land the ship perfectly - exactly when we expected, and for the agreed amount. Myself and the other Directors of The Rechabite tip the hat and thank all at McCorkell for their work on such an iconic and already well-loved civic cultural centre.”
