Located in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs, Luther College is one of Victoria’s leading co-educational independent secondary schools. In this landmark Design and Construct contract, McCorkell delivered the new Creativity & Innovation Centre – a purpose-built, two-level learning hub designed to support contemporary, hands-on education across the arts, technology and design.

The airtight building envelope incorporates a diverse mix of general and specialist spaces, including food technology kitchens, digital technology studios, a dedicated ‘make and build’ zone, workshop areas, photography and visual arts studios, and a ceramics workshop. The building also features an amphitheatre for small presentations and lectures, vertical transportation, and a large basement car park. To enable the construction of the new Centre, the project also involved major service diversions and infrastructure upgrades, the construction of two new substations, demolition of existing structures, and extensive landscaping works.

Bringing together multidisciplinary learning under one roof, the Creativity & Innovation Centre has been designed to broaden opportunities for every student – encouraging intellectual risk-taking, collaboration, experimentation and learning through doing. More than a new building, the Centre represents a long-term investment for Luther College in future-focused education, and supporting the development of creativity and critical thinking to prepare students for life beyond the classroom.
