  • Student Interface
  • Upgrades to Existing Services

We worked collaboratively with Lyons Architecture and Fintona Girls’ School to secure this project through an Early Contractor Involvement process, providing significant time and cost savings, and incorporating several buildability solutions whilst maintaining the original design intent. The stunning two-level building is a modern, light-filled bookend to the existing Margaret Ross Centre at the campus. The dedicated STEM centre includes state-of-the-art lab spaces and classrooms, flexible learning areas, breakout spaces, meeting rooms and a technically enhanced design studio.

Externally, the building features a bespoke curved brick facade and steel plate window shrouds. The undulating brickwork incorporates a corbelled brick pattern, designed using algorithms that translated mathematical and scientific equations into 2D imagery. Construction of the new building on the campus was also offset by providing additional garden space and hardscaping surrounding the building for the students to enjoy.

Right from the commencement of the project, we understood the importance of delivering and handing over the building to the school at the start of Term 1 in 2021. We upheld our commitment to an accelerated program and Fintona’s Annie Hughston Centre was handed over to the school more than four weeks earlier than the contracted practical completion date.

“What we see today, shows the professionalism and commitment of your team. You approached this build, no doubt in the same manner that you do every time, but who could have foreseen what lay ahead. Your ability to adapt with every change to COVID-19 regulations and your foresight to make sure that we had all the materials we required on time, trades on site etc. has been outstanding. Our new beyond science building is certainly a credit to you and your company and we hope that you are justifiably as proud as we are of the Annie Hughston Centre.”
