As part of the VSBA’s ongoing commitment to improving educational environments, this major upgrade and modernisation project replaced outdated temporary buildings with high-quality permanent facilities – supporting future enrolment growth of up to 225 additional students.

The works included the construction of a new two-storey Community Hub featuring contemporary general learning areas, breakout spaces and a full-size, competition-grade gymnasium with hardcourt flooring. A new Administration Building was also delivered, providing staff offices, meeting rooms and amenities designed to enhance day-to-day school operations. Externally, the project included the construction of a full-sized synthetic hardcourt and an undercover asphalt court to further support the school’s active learning programs.

All works were carried out within a live school environment, requiring careful staging, clear communication and close coordination with school leadership. The project was completed safely and efficiently, with minimal disruption to students, staff and the broader school community.

In parallel to delivering the upgrade works, McCorkell achieved strong social procurement outcomes, exceeding the project’s target by delivering over 5% of the contract value through social benefit suppliers and generating more than $900,000 in social benefit spend. The project also prioritised local participation, investing more than $3.5 million into the Gippsland region through local subcontractors and suppliers. This commitment was further supported through the engagement of locally based staff and the creation of new employment opportunities, reinforcing meaningful community and regional economic benefits alongside the delivery of the new facilities.
