Earlier this month, outstanding Western Australian building suppliers and contractors were celebrated at the Department of Finance Supplier Performance Awards 2021. Our team were lucky enough to be presented with the ‘Best Project’ award for the recently completed Belridge Secondary College Performing Arts Centre.
The annual awards recognise businesses that have provided exceptional service and value on WA Government non-residential building projects. They demonstrate the WA Department of Finance’s commitment to working with suppliers that have a track record in delivering great project outcomes.
The Department’s Deputy Director and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance also acknowledged the importance of the construction industry suppliers and consultants and the role they have played in the strong economic performance of Western Australia in these unprecedented times.
To be eligible for an award, prequalified contractors and consultants are assessed against their performance reports and must not have received any demerits in the past year.
The $4.1m Performing Arts Centre refurbishment and extension has also been recognised more broadly, with the project also receiving the 2021 Master Builders WA Best Education Building Award ($1.5-5m) and an international 2021 Architecture Masterprize Design Award in the Educational Buildings category.
“Through a collaborative relationship between the Principal, Architect, Consultants and the Contractor, all works were completed in a timely manner with the end result a futuristic Performing Arts Centre that meets the demands of the arts program by the college.”

The project involved alterations and an extension to the existing Performing Arts Centre building. The extension provides a new theatre featuring retractable tiered seating, sprung timber flooring and state-of-the-art theatre equipment, including lighting and sound.
We are honoured to have received an award for our role as the main contractor in the ‘Best Project’ award and would like to congratulate all other winners.
